Mail Enhancement help you Improve your Mail Experience by separating your incoming mail into 4 categories:
| Preferred Senders | People with whom you have an existing relationship |
| Other Senders | Good mail from unknown sources |
| Newsletters | Valid commercial mail which can fill your Inbox |
| Junk Mail | UCE, Spam |
How does Mail Enhancement (M.E.) decide where to put the email? It is based on a combination of your Sent Mail and your explicit preferences, made over time as you examine your mail.
For example, if you have ever sent an email to allison@maysoft.com, then any replies show up in the Preferred Inbox. If you do not like this preference, simply drag the message to "Junk Mail" or "Other Inbox" and messages from that sender will always appear in that place. Change your mind as often as you want. The changes take affect immediately.
Prevents False Positives
You can override your spam filter or even your Sent folder by dragging a message into a different folder, and from then on, Mail Enhancement (M.E.) will redirect that message to a different folder.
Preferred Inbox
Preferred Inbox (or "Social Inbox") helps separate out email based on your existing relationships along with your own personal preferences.
All Lotus Notes mailboxes are huge information stores. They reflects your business, your organization and outside people with whom you regularly correspond. Most "Sent" folder have over 6,000 entries and 1,000 unique names, which tells a lot about your social network.
From your Lotus Notes Sent Folder M.E. can determine your "important contacts". M.E. checks all inbound mail against the list of people in the Sent mail folder. If there is a match, M.E. "promotes" the message to your Preferred Inbox. In addition, M.E. places all Lotus Notes email users in your organization in your Preferred Inbox. |
Other Inbox
And the messages that do not match a name in your Sent folder?
They can (optionally) show up in a new folder called Other Inbox, which you can check once or twice daily. If you have never emailed a sender, then they automatically show up in the "Other Inbox". These are new relationships or perhaps unwanted non-spam messages.
What if you find an email that you always want to appear in the Preferred Inbox? Drag it into the “Preferred Inbox” folder, and M.E. will always put that sender in the Preferred Inbox. |
Newsletters
M.E. identifies almost all Newsletters correctly and puts them in the Newsletters folder. These are non-critical messages (to you, not the sender!) that can be read at your leisure.
If you find a message that you want in your Preferred Inbox? Just drag it there and it will always appear there. |
Junk Mail
M.E. works with whatever spam filter you use now to allow overrides to messages they deem spam. This can help make your spam filter "false-positive free".
You can also drag any message to the Junk Mail folder, and all subsequent messages will be delivered there.
