Sentinel Saving The Day

What do you do when you have an existing payroll application that works fine at crunching the numbers, but when it comes time for the users to view the data, the legacy system leaves much to be desired. In other words, most users will at any cost try to avoid even using the system. As an application programmer I was faced with this problem, but with using Sentinel my problems were solved.

Solving the problem:
Fortunately, the payroll data already existed in a Microsoft access database. So using Sentinel, I downloaded the data from the Microsoft access database right into my new HRIS Lotus Notes database.
I know what your saying, what’s so special about that? Well, instead of first creating the Notes application by designing the forms, data fields, and views . I decided to take a different approach. I decided to create my application backward (app backwards). First, I used Sentinel to load the data, or in other words build my application. Secondly, once Sentinel had loaded the data, all I had to do was just create the form and the viewing fields (used to show the data fields sentinel created). Then finally, all that was left was just turning over the application. All this accomplish in just one day.

In short, Sentinel has helped me save countless numbers of man hours and has helped me produce more work in a shorter period of time. If you could see the user community, you would know you have a winner.

Sincerely yours,
Richard Jerry
