Symptoms
A message appears at the Domino console along the lines of "cannot connect to <server name> check port <port number> is open.
Cause
This may be because the port number specified in the Server Configuration document is being blocked by a firewall.
Fix
To test connectivity to port 2703 (SpamNet Port) do the following:
- Open a command prompt.
- Type "telnet a.razor2.cloudmark.com 2703"
- If a response such as "sn=D&srl=456&a=l&a=cg&ep4=7542-10" is not received then the port is blocked or there are connectivity issues elsewhere.
To test for port 80 (HTTP) connectivity:
- Open a web browser and enter "a.razor2.cloudmark.com" into the address field
- You should receive a 'Page Not Found' error. If you receive a 'Could Not Find Server' error then the firewall may be blocking port 80 or you may have other connectivity issues.
One of these ports needs to be open for outbound traffic for SpamSentinel to function correctly.
